The UK Wedding Directory appears in the top 10 on both Google and Yahoo! We received 9,856 unique visitors in November 2006 and 28,148 page views. Traffic is growing at approximately 20% per month.
Our business model is to fund our activities through advertising revenue alone. Such revenue derives from the leaderboard banner ads at the top of Directory and Search pages. Banner ads are either paid-for ads from Page Sponsors or (for vacant sponsor slots) the Google Adsense programme.
The example above shows a Page Sponsor position in the Wedding Planning directory category. Ads are in the industry-standard leaderboard dimensions:
- 728 x 90 pixels (gif or jpg preferred)
- 50k maximum file size (we will further optimise)
- animated gifs supported (max 4 animation loops)
- limited support of rich media (flash objects)
- third-party ad tags not accepted
