Editors’ Picks

The UK Wedding Directory results are primarily driven by submissions from Wedding Suppliers seeking to promote their business. However, it is important that the Directory balances the interests of brides and other customers in compiling our overall listings.

 

As such, a small number of sites have been selected by our editorial team as Editors’ Picks - sites of particular interest to those planning a wedding.

 

Picks will tend to appear with greater frequency in categories where there is a limited culture of suppliers submitting to wedding directories. So, for example, there are a number of picks in the Wedding Drinks category, as vintners are generally unaccustomed to listing their sites:

Note that an Editors’ Pick is always prefaced with a star symbol - making it easy for users of the site to differentiate a Pick from a regular listing.

 

It is not possible for a Wedding Supplier to request or apply for an Editor’s Pick status. The designation is awarded at the sole discretion of the Editorial team.

 

How are Picks Selected?

In order for a site to be selected as a Pick, it must be of demonstrable value to customers planning a wedding. As such, there are two key qualifying criteria:

    Firstly, the site will generally be a
    recognised UK or International Brand
    name in the category concerned.

     

    Secondly, the site will generally have
    an Alexa ranking within the top 100,000
    sites worldwide (a proxy for overall
    popularity with consumers).

Note that there is no requirement for the site owner of an Editor’s Pick to provide a reciprocal link to the UK Wedding Directory. In fact, in many cases the site owner will be unaware of their inclusion in the Directory.

 

An Editor’s Pick carries a base link rating of 3 (which will only change if and when the owner of that site decides to join the Directory, claim their listing and undertake link quality, link advocacy or bookmarking activity to further improve their rating). As such, Picks will only tend to appear on the first page of categories less popular with wedding suppliers.
